2011 Joe Hiller Longboard Classic SCHEDULE
The Joe Hiller Longboard Classic will be held on the Isle of Palms at the Charleston County Park (Pier) on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9th.

Congratulations to all SSC Team members who participated in Easterns this year in Nag's Head. Special congrats to Grace Muckenfuss who placed 2nd in Jr. Women's Shortboard and was named an ESA All Star and also to M.T. Bourque who placed 2nd in Women's Longboard. Blue Spivey placed 3rd in Masters Shortboard & Norman Godley placed 4th in Legends Longboard. Everyone surfed great & made SSC proud! Here are all the Easterns RESULTS.

DJ McKevlin Gromfest, Team Challenge & Liquid Shredder Open

July 23
Gromfest Entry
The DJ McKevlin Gromfest is coming right up next Saturday, July 23! Sign up for this fun day of surfing with your friends!. As usual, take it to any local surf shop asap. We will extend the deadline until Thursday.

July 24
Team Challenge Entry

On Sunday, we'll run the 21 year old John Kalagian Team Challenge!
Open to the first 6 shortboard and longboard teams! Get your team together now!
$300. prize money for the top shortboard & longboard teams!
Defending their coveted Team Challenge Champion Titles this year are Ocean Surf Shop and Retroactive Longboarders.

July 24
Liquid Shredder Open Entry
After the John Kalagian Team Challenge on Sunday, we'll run the very popular Liquid Shredder Open. Kyle Busey shredded to victory last year in the Adult Open and won $500. in cash! 2nd and 3rd place winners each receive $50. cash.
Grom Champion wins a Liquid Shredder Soft Surfboard of their choice.
Of course there will be a Push n Surf at the end of the day.

Thank you to Scott McClain of Liquid Shredder for sponsoring both the Team Challenge & The LQS Open, and to rep Rick Anson for dragging all those boards to every single contest for kids to demo and ride in the push n surf.

July 9-10
SSC Contest #3 Jack's Cosmic Surf Challenge
Excellent turnout for this contest, with the addition of even more groms, including the girls division. We had nice, rideable waves all weekend, with smaller conditions on Sunday. Thank you to Jack's Cosmic Dogs for providing delicious hot dogs all weekend and sponsoring the medals and cool logo'd back packs.
Congratulations to Blue Spivey for his victory in the Open Division! It was great to see the return of SSC super star Todd Youngblood, who took the Sr. Mens Division. Shameless brag for my own kids, Charlie Hussey & Sarah Mitchell who won the Mens & Ladies Longboard Divisions.
We had one of the largest push n surfs in recent memory, and it was great to see SSC surfers push their own children & siblings into the waves with pride! Blue & Alexis Spivey, Nick & Timmy Manos, Tara, Clint & Luke Thomas, Gunner & Fisher Perry and more. Thank you Miss Angie Youngblood for starting the Push n Surf so many years ago, it's been very popular & such a fun way to get the little menehunes stoked about surfing!

Folly Beach Wahine Classic- 10th Anniversary!

Amazing wahine weekend! Once again we were blessed with waves, friendship, community support and so much love from everyone, which made for an awesome Wahine contest. THANK you to everyone who helped out and participated. We're still working on getting thanks you's and t-shirts out to our wonderful sponsors, so please bear with us. Special thanks to Patti Noe, without whom we couldn't have/wouldn't have had this event this year. XOXO Patti!

SSC Contest #2 Sponsored by Parrot Surf Shop
Congratulations to Evan Tanner, Open Division Champion!

Parrot Surf Shop sponsored our second points contest of the season this past weekend at the Washout. THANK YOU Parrot for providing t-shirts to all competitors and hats to youth division finalists. Also thank you to Rita's Seaside Grille on Folly Beach for sponsoring boxed lunches and frisbees for our surfers on both days of the contest!
The waves were small but rideable and with a bunch of stoked new groms onboard and lots of awesome volunteers we had a really fun weekend!
Thank you to everyone who helped out with this contest, we really appreciate it and couldn't have these events without your help.

April 16-17
Contest #1 Sea and Sand Classic at the Folly Beach Pier
The Sea and Sand Classic was completed on April 16-17. Conditions were more favorable at the Washout on Saturday, so we surfed there and moved back to the Pier on Sunday. The Pier was super fun, and we'd like to thank everyone who helped make it a success. We hope to have at least one event per season at the Folly Beach Pier and look forward to going back.
This was the first surf contest held at the Pier in 33 years! Ask Norman Godley about the last one in 1978!
